MUST, Oyu Tolgoi and Rio Tinto Mongolia are partnering to train geotechnical professionals internally and establish a mining research centre within the framework of a joint project funded by USD2.4 million. Today, we have opened the Geotechnical testing and research laboratory with a cost of additional USD366 thousand funding to strengthen the practical research base of the university and improve the learning conditions for the professors, researchers and students.
The laboratory is equipped with cutting-edge rock analysis equipment that would provide opportunities for professors, researchers and students to bring their research work closer to production to study the features of Mongolia's natural formations and rock structures in more detail.
