Sixteen students from MUST are to receive scholarship from Oyu Tolgoi company

The ceremony to give out certificates to students selected from Oyu Tolgoi’s national-level scholarship program was held on Dec 10th ; thirty-five students received their funding. The athletes’ family members, universities’ officials including Ochirbat.B, President of MUST, Michael Gawin , Human Resources Chief Manager, Batsukh.G, head of Special Council and Bayarsaikhan.G, Labor Minister, attended the event.

The opening speech from the Batsukh.G: “Very grateful that I had an opportunity to value Mongolian leading students’ work and future accomplishments they will achieve.  I don’t have the slightest doubt that you would be a great exemplar to your generation and contribute to the society. ”

16 from MUST, 9 from NUM, 3 from Darkhan Technology Institute, 2 from MNUMS and one from Mongolian State University of Agriculture received domestic scholarships.

Oyu Tolgoi scholarship is the most grand and prestigious among the ones in the country covering 100% tuition fee, monthly 200,000T stipend, dormitory expenses, and opportunity to participate various youth programs as well as internship in the company.

Four out of twenty who competed for the scholarship to study abroad were admitted; they will be studying in mining and health sectors from Aug 2016.

MUST President Ochirbat.B said, “We had been very grateful that Oyu Tolgoi did many socially good deed, especially in a sector of education; one of these multi-faceted operation is the scholarship program”

Within total five years of the scholarship program’s existence 150 out of 210 and 15 out of 30 were MUST students receiving domestic and international scholarship respectively.

50 mining,23 enrichment technology, 43 civil engineering students received the scholarship; thus, the School of Geology and Mining received the most among all MUST branch schools.

MUST’s thirteen graduates who received the Oyu Tolgoi scholarship are currently working for the company.

Students usually compete from two to three years for this scholarship; it shows the reputation it already has among the students.
