Professors from Poland’s University of Information Technology and Management Visit MUST under the GreenTech Horizons Erasmus+ Project

The Mongolian University of Science and Technology (MUST) is participating in the “GreenTech Horizons” Erasmus+ international cooperation project, funded by the European Union.

The rapid transformation of the modern labour market is creating an increasing demand for engineers and professionals who can combine digital knowledge and skills with green competencies and business acumen, and who are capable of developing environmentally responsible and sustainable solutions. In response to these emerging needs, the GreenTech Horizons project brings together higher education institutions from Europe and Asia to support universities in Asian partner countries in developing innovative learning ecosystems and preparing future professionals with the knowledge and competencies required to respond effectively to rapidly changing labour-market demands.

As part of the project implementation, the project team held a meeting to review progress on 29–30 June 2026. During the visit, Professor Joanna Wójcik and Professor Joanna Świętoniowska from the University of Information Technology and Management, Republic of Poland, a consortium partner institution, visited the Graduate School of MUST.

During their visit, the professors also explored the multimedia equipment supplied to the Virtual Innovation Laboratory being established at MUST under the GreenTech Horizons project. They met with students from the Multimedia Technology programme of the School of Information and Communication Technology, who are currently undertaking their industrial internships using the newly installed equipment. The visiting professors exchanged views with the students and, with their participation and assistance, tested the capabilities and potential applications of the equipment. Discussions were also held on opportunities to further utilise these technologies for teaching, research, innovation, and practical training.

The Virtual Innovation Laboratory is being developed as an interdisciplinary hub for research, modelling, experimentation, and policy-oriented innovation, contributing to the advancement of the green and digital transition. The laboratory will provide opportunities to integrate advanced digital technologies, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), Digital Twin technologies, and immersive environments, to support smart campus modelling, green infrastructure planning, and innovation in digital education.

In addition to fostering research and innovation activities aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the laboratory is expected to provide an enabling environment for strengthening collaboration among universities, industry, and government institutions, as well as for co-developing and testing innovative solutions to real-world challenges.

These activities demonstrate the practical value of the GreenTech Horizons Erasmus+ Project in strengthening international academic cooperation, advancing green and digital transformation, enhancing students’ future-oriented competencies, and creating new opportunities for research, innovation, and university–industry–government collaboration at MUST.
